    MySQL 6 Alpha available

The next generation of the world's most popular open source database platform is ready for pre-production testing. MySQL 6.0 supplies more reliability, performance, and ease-of-use enhancements, starting with the new Falcon transactional storage engine. MySQL 6 features ACID transaction compliant, Crash recovery, User-defined tablespaces, High-speed data caches, Advanced B-Tree indexes, Performance/diagnostic monitoring tables and Simplified configuration, among others. Falcon utilizes tablespaces for user data storage with there being no practical limit to how many tablespaces can be created and used to manage tables, indexes, and BLOB data. All tablespaces feature auto-extending datafiles, automatic space reclamation, and compaction of data pages.
